Bioregion
Orcas Island is located in the center of the San Juan Archipelago in
Northwestern Washington State, USA. These islands are in the rain-shadow
of the Olympic Mountains and have lakes, marshes, and fertile valleys.
This gives us a climate very conducive to horticulture.

Being of a maritime, Mediterranean climate this area is known to be the
northern most extension of the California climate zone and is locally
considered a banana belt.

Climate data for Olga, WA (on the Eastern end of Orcas Island) is available from the Western Regional Climate Data Center. Comparatively Deer Harbor tends to be somewhat drier and sunnier.
